What is a cell? All organism are composed of cells-small membrane-bounded compartments filled with a concentrated aqueous solution of chemicals.They occur singly as a great variety of unicellular organisms, and they occur as the subunits of organs and tissues in plants,animals, and other multicellular organisms. In either case the cell is life's basic unit of structure and function.The cell is the unit structure of all living things. Cells come from previously existing cells.The cells are small structures so they are visible only under a microscope.Microscopes of various kinds are the most important tools of cytology, the study of cell structure.
