Living material of cells

The living material of which cells are made is called protoplasm. This is a semi- transparent, jelly-like substance, containing granules and some material in the form of globules or fibers which are suspended in it. Protoplasm is a growing, streaming, dividing substance that respond to touch, to heat and to other stimuli. It is the substance which carries on the life processes of the cell.Thus protoplasm has been called the physical basis of life, since only living things posses it. |
